So yesterday I had a prompting to check into a child that was cleared for foster to adopt care. One that stood out to me is 6 years old, ready to start grade level K in the fall. So I excitedly told DH about him.

DH replies- I don't want people going through our home, if you get too many kids you will get a job because I am not supporting your rear but do whatever you want. He also recently informed me that if we were to have 2 more kids, then he would get "fixed" so we don't have anymore.

But as soon as he got up and around, he spent hours on the internet looking at brand new trucks. When I was taking a shower, he stood there with the curtain open asking

" what about the Dodge, they have 1500 cash back and I get a discount, but Toyota has 1997 prices sale, yet what about the Ford I get a discount there and they have 0% interest, I really think I would go with the Ford, what do you think?"

I replied "why are you askign me?"

He said " because last summer I got mad that he bought the truck he has now. "

"I said last summer you knew we couldn't afford a new truck payment and yet you bought the truck anyway, so again why are you asking me about this now? "

He said, "well the one I have is only for 3 people, and that has suited us fine til now but what if we have more kids."

I replied, "we have been not preventing since june of 2002 and we have not even gotten pregnant so I don't think you need to worry about that at this time."

He says, " well if I pay off this small truck and you do have another kid, then I don't want any lip when I immediately go out and buy a new truck." and, "well even if I don't need the extra seating for passengers, it is difficult for all my work gear to be in the cab and you guys needing a place to sit."

He didn't go look at trucks but he did go look at motorcycles.

Ok so what is that all about? Telling me he is not open to adopting, not willing to pay for IVF because there is no guarantee of a healthy baby, and threatening to get snip-snipped if/when we do have 2 more kids at the max, he may even decide to get snip-snipped even after just one more,....yet he is talking about needing a bigger truck for when we have more kids? and isn't willing to pay for adoption/treatments but is willing to spend $$$ on material items? I don't get it.

That's tough. Makes you want to pray all the harder for natural conception. IVF & adoption are both very expensive. Bethany Christian Services does have a financial service that helps to finance adoption, they also have infertility support--I haven't looked into it to see what exactly they help with.

However, I think there is an adoption tax credit of $10,300.

God Bless!
