so called "womens sufferage"

I seen a movie about Post partum psychosis once and at a message board discussing it someone mentioned a book by a Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

I got the book from my local library and this woman was so caught up in the idea that women were exploited and made to work long hours at home while not being able to do anything "important"....how sad.

She even has a short story called A Council of War - and it's about a group of women getting together to take the commerce "quietly" out from underneath the men's feet.

I guess in the 1890's many a woman was getting sick of being wives, moms, and homemakers...but the women of the 60's and 70's used this ladies short stories as inspiration as well...and now it's not like women are only born to be wives, moms, and homemakers...we do have choices today.

Yes, it is great when one who is married can finally understand that is the perfect role for her and not struggle against it...but still this short story was disturbing to me.

Also women can do something beyond their roles should they have the time to do those things. And there are many single women who can find fulfillment outside of a marriage if that is what they are called to do.

Whether called or made the choice, if you chose to get married by saying yes when proposed to, then we should realise we made that decision and it would be best to live within those guidelines of:

I Timothy 5:14 - I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

Titus 2:4-5 - That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Psalm 31:27 - 27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
