*** Updated in RED*** Below
So remember my "friend" who said maybe the Lord wanted me to be a stay at home mom and take care of my son and then HE would bless me with more children?
Well today I was talking with her and she is checking into virtual public school at home because she needs more accountability when it comes to her 2 eldest (age 9 and 7) homeschooling.
She then went on to say how her children (ages 9, 7, 4, 2, 1) tear her home apart while she is tending to the 5.5 month old and regular upkeep. I mentioned table/seperate acitivity time for each child that they can rotate through out the day and she said her kids would most likely fight over everything...I said even if they knew eventually they would get a turn with said activity?
She then said they have no routine/schedule that she can't live like that. She doesn't eat anymore because she feels she is getting fat, so she said as of 2pm EST all she had to eat was 4 bites of cereal and a few chips (ok not cool when trying to lose weight, right?) and worked out 1 hour on her Gazelle. So she said there was no set breakfast or lunch time because I suggested does she even have normal everyday things she does between Breakfast and lunch and then between lunch and dinner? that's when she said they don't and I was like but you do eat right? She said the kids do and mostly make their own breakfast foods.
So then I was thinking ok but you told me that if I came home and showed this is what I want to do is be a wife and mom at home then I would be blessed with more children and yet here you sit with your 6 blessings and tell me you are living in chaos? what gives?
she then back peddles and says well she does have certain routine things they are just not written down. and then says I am blessed to have my son and a place to call home.
She knows that is not what I meant, after all it was her who said she felt the Lord wanted me to know back when I was working part time outside my home that I should come home full time and get DS in a routine and the home in a routine and then I would be blessed...but like I said she sat right there and said she had no routine/schedule and yet she has 6 blessings.
If you have some good protein/veggie only comboes please leave a recipe comment.
thanks
***Updated 6.9.07 to mention something I forgot to mention***
While talking to said "friend" on the phone, I mentioned that DS and I had a fairly active summer planned. Free events at the library, his gymnastics, swimming, a couple of sports camps - one only cost $10- etc...and she was like oh no a true stay at home mom would just stay home. I don't do those kinds of outings. I replied I know I would love to just let me son go out in our backyard and play on a swingset and with his siblings...yet as of this minute there is no backyard, no swingset, and no siblings to play with. Her kids have each other to play with outside (yes I know they most likely just fight all the time but they could be TRAINED to get along, my sister and I played nicely together and if we had a disagreement, that is seperate time until you can play nice again, most kids will want to play with another kid, so a "time-out" seperation will help them to realize they need to not fight with the other or else they will be playing alone all the time).

This recipe is a vegetarian recipe but you could easily add a chicken breast to it to make it protein/veggie.
Sesame Broccoli Stir-Fry
1 lb fresh broccoli
2 tsp peanut oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz. medium mushrooms, quartered
1 red pepper, cut into 1 inch squares
2 T reduced-sodium chicken broth (or water)
2 T reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 T toasted sesame seeds
Chop broccoli, set aside.
Pour peanut oil into wok or nonstick skillet; place over high heat unit hot. Add garlic, & stir-fry 30 seconds. Add broccoli, mushrooms, and red pepper and stir-fry 2 minutes. Stir in broth, soy sauce, and sesame oil; stir-fry 2 minutes or until most of liquid is evaportated and veggies are crisp-tender. Transfer to serving bowl and toss with toasted sesame seeds.
If you add chicken, cook it first then add veggies.
To toast sesame seeds, put in a dry pan on medium heat and stir until seeds start to brown. Careful, as they will be very hot!
This recipe is delicious and can easily go over rice for those who are eating carbs.
Blessings!
Heather
