Sure it's the day most True Believers don't acknowledge but in recent years even churches hold "alternatives" ... for "outreach"....don't get me started...I whole Heartedly disagree! (let's reach people with Truth and not feel good gadgetry)
Prophecy Club has a video by Doc Marquis talking about the occult in all of our American holidays. Very well done. He calls those who hold fall festivals as closet 10/31 ers....LOL
There is an audio here but I did notice one thing and it may have just been a slip of the tongue but it's not witchcraft is as the sin of rebellion but rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and we all know the verse that reads, thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
I Samuel 15:23 (to Saul)
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the L-RD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Exodus 22:18
Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
you should check out either the video or the audio though because not just 10/31 has pagan roots ... even 12/25 and rez sundae....(imagine ominous music here)
and I know a wiccan who confirmed many of the things I learned regarding the truth behind why you deck the halls and other such bogus things... it has nothing to do with Messiah.
And don't tell yourself, "HE knows where my heart is in all this" or "the Bible doesn't say we can't do such and such"
Jeremiah 10:2a
Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen,...
Deuteronomy 12:29-32
In short HE says not to worship HIM the way the lost worship their so called gods. That's what the golden calf incident was all about. Christshuns have found a way to christianize celebrations that were taking place long before Messiah was here with us. So how can they possibly believe the lies that told them to take the birth of the sun god and say it's the birth of the Son of G-D? That's stupidity. I'm surprised we don't have a "christshunized" 10/31 ... oh wait we are moving towards that...what's the spin on that going to be?
You need celebrations? YHWH already gave us like 7 of them plus a weekly one .... what more do you people want?
oh that's right we traded G-D's calendar for man's ... tsk tsk tsk
Leviticus 23 is an informative read.
Enjoy the pondering!

It's good to see someone posting on this. I just didn't have time to do anything more than comment today. I will post a link though. Hope you don't mind! *blushing*
Very interesting stuff. A few comments:
We had a party on Halloween. We dressed up, gave out candy, and had a good time. But in all of that it was not worship of God in a pagan way. We were certainly grateful for the provision of God that we could afford to give out candy and have a home to which people could come. We were grateful for friends. But we weren't using our party as an act of worship to God. Nor were we celebrating the dead, Satan, or hoping to ward off evil spirits.
All that to say, I don't see a connection to our Halloween party and the golden calf incident. And the golden calf, from my study of Scripture, was a replacement for God and Moses, not an appropriation of a certain celebration.
I find the ability of the Christian church to appropriate (pagan) holidays to be a testament to God's redeeming power. I love that.
However, your point about God's instituted holidays is well taken. I'm a firm believer in taking a Sabbath and have found the few traditional celebrations, such as Passover, to be very informative.
Just a few rambling thoughts.
Thanks for sharing yours!

(christianizing things associated with pagan traditions is not the answer)
Exodus 32:3-5
3And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the L-RD.
Deuteronomy 12:29-32
29When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
32What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
You have given me much to ponder over. We had a hayride on halloween and the kids went trick or treating from that hayride. Never really thought about the orgins of halloween before. Hmmmm.... much to ponder. Thank you.
