How I met my Joey Bear. aka DH

1997: DH's sister saw me and 2 other guys in the kitchen at church slapping each other with towels...I was dating one of them but she thought we were all related since we were "horsing" around.

1998: His mom lives in this town and while he and his sisters only came for summer visits, he says he remembers the first time I came into the sunday school room, hand in hand with another guy. I remember his blue eyes that day. At the end of the summer, he was sent home to his dad's with one sister and the other one was allowed to stay here with their mom.

About 2 months later both DH and their youngest sister were sent here to live from Louisiana because there dad was having marital strife with their step mom. That december I was studying for an accounting exam and since DH's mom is an accountant she offered to help me. DH at that time was a junior in highschool and was on the couch the day I came over to get help from his mom. His mom played the piano in youth and my sister was good friends with DH's oldest- younger sister. So my sister had been over to their house many times. DH's mom asked me why I wasn't dating anyone and I said I was done with guys, especially younger ones because they were too wishy washy. And she said I should give it at least one more try since her then husband was like 9 years younger than her.

Later that month we were all in the xmess play at furch. I only got in because I wanted to get to know Joey better (sorry Pastor Herky if u r reading this). My sister and I decided to throw me a birthday party at the last minute so we could invite the two guys we liked over, and everyone else too.

The morning of the play it sleeted so we went out for chinese and Joey didn't realize he forgot to take off his stage makeup-so that was fun. I asked him if he wanted to drive my 88' white 4 door Honda Accord since he was a guy I figured he would handle the icey parking lot better but he didn't want to, so since my sister and I lived further away from furch then DH and his sisters, we were told by our mom to stay over there. That night for evening service I can remember us all being in my sisters 1990 1987 Jeep Cherokee and she couldn't stop on the ice, calmly says, "fence." and we hit the chain link fence at the back of the furch parking lot in order to stop. Good times...then Joey got out and decided to moonwalk and fell down...another good memory. (just this last october at his oldest, younger sister's wedding, my sisters hubby kept spilling the floor mopping water so DH ran and slid on his front side in it, goes outside and says with one side of his body he's washing my sisters 2004 Dodge Ram and with his backside drying it...yes DH was buzzed but it was very funny and very Joey-like.)

That night our mom told us to stay at their house and in the morning the roads should be better and we could go home to get ready -me for work and my sister was considered done with her senior year of high school as long as she got a job and/or went to college. Before we went to sleep, I slept in DH's sisters room on their couch and my sister slept out in the living room and my now DH was on the other couch. I remember waking up before they did and noticed Joey's clothes on a chair...I decided to hide them to be funny. Not sure if it was too funny since it was his Patriots jersey I hid under one of his sister's beds...LOL I went out to start my car and came in and was talking to their stepdad and passed out. Soon after I found out I had hypoglycemia. So I didn't go to work that day, instead had to go get a heart monitor and a bunch of blood test, that's how we got a diagnosis of hypoglycemia.

Sometime between then and the next month DH's mom and step dad kept nudging him to ask me out.

1999: January...Joey tells a girl he likes me...I reply well he can tell me himself then.

1-09-99 DH and I went to see that Adam Sandler Water Boy movie and then the next day my sister and I invited her boyfriend and Joey to go to see our dad, who lived 1.5 hours away. Both of their moms said they could, so we skipped furch to go visit our dad and go bowling out of town.

1-12-99 DH and I were officially a couple. We were having "revival" at furch that week, so after a service we went for chinese food and felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant, like no one else existed.

We were going to get married in November of that year but DH was frightened by the thought of not having his mom's health insurance. So he said he would ask me another time...which I thought may never come. I was older than him and told him many times if he found someone more his age and wanted to call it quits I would understand. So the beginning of that year was all about us being together but then by fall, after the we almost got married incident, we cooled off on hanging together. I also traveled with him and his sisters to Louisiana that summer to meet there dad.

2000: in January I went to NC to visit some friends who had moved away. While I was there, Joey called and asked me to marry him because he didn't want me to leave ever again. (awww garsh)

In Feb we got rings and in May tied the knot. And in July went to Boston to meet the rest of the family who couldn't come for the wedding although his grandma from Germany was able to make it.

To recap:
January 12, 1999 - J and S are "going out"
January 2000 - J proposes to S
February 2000 - J buys S diamond ring (which no longer fits after having DS but I am not complaining, plus it was 1/3, has a dark speck in it, and is gold...we both prefer white gold these days. I do currently wear a pretty pink man-made diamond and white gold ring-yes I saw the movie blood diamon and it made me cry-)
May 20, 2000 - Wedding Guitar plays (that's right no piano at our wedding...I love the sound of the guitar!) For the bridesmaids- Canon in D, when I walked- I knew I loved you before I met you by Savage Garden and for the recessional...Joyful, Joyful we adore thee. All on Acoustic guitar. None of that outdated here comes the bride (all fat and wide garbage neither!)
I took some pictures of photos so you can see some things. So don't mind the dates nor the flash spot on the photos.

I sat on a groomsman's knee for this. That groomsman in now the furches youth pastor. My times have changed...

Some friends decorated the get-away mobile...just burried...LOL oh and did I mention my maid of honour- my sister forgot to put my suitcase in the car..so that was a nice scare to think I would go all weekend with not even a change of undies.. talk about a not fun day at the amusement park we were going to the next day...thankfully my aunt who got us the room and lived that direction was kind enough to drop my bag off at the front desk.....we only went about 15 minutes away because DH was graduating that Tuesday night. My aunt worked at the holiday inn and got us a suite for free..can't beat that.

May 23, 2000 DH graduated from high school.

Genesis 2:24-25 (KJV)
24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
