This time of year is not much fun for me.
Last year at this time my son was playing in the side yard here at the apartment and the people in the apartments behind us were aiming bottle rockets at him. I don't know if they were on drugs or just bored....I yelled I was calling the cops and went inside.
Again since the weekend people have been shooting of m-80's, bottle rockets, blackcats, and other firecrackers. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DO SO IN THIS CITY.
I'm not trying to spoil their fun, rather keep my neighbors from getting fined/ticketed/ and/or thrown in jail for the night. Just trying to be a good neighbor.
I think people are placing the m-80's in the dumpster, I know they did at my old apartment complex. I can't believe people waste their money on those things anyhow. They aren't cheap and they are hard to obtain.
Last night at about 10:30pm I went out and told DS's new friend's mom's boyfriend who was out there lighting firecrackers, that it is illegal to do so here. They just moved in so maybe they truly don't know.
I sorta feared for my safety after that. And it did sound as if firecrackers were being set off/thrown against the side of our apartment after that.
Like I said not trying to spoil anyone's fun. Today is finally the 4th...why don't they drive out into the country or some town where it is legal and then set off their firecrackers...why risk being fined, ticketed, and/or spending the night in jail.
Is that so hard? Self-Control is really lacking these days.
Now for my favorite "patriotic" song:
BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His day is marching on.
I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
“As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal”;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Since God is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy,
let us live to make men free;[originally …let us die to make men free]
While God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
While God is marching on.
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool,
and the soul of wrong His slave,
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.
Jeremiah 25:30 - Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
