Night and Day One of Hanukkah 5768

Some things I am dwelling on during the next eight days:

#1 Yeshua is the Shamus candle or the tallest one, the one that gives light to the other candles. HE told us that HE is the light of the world.

Mark 10:44-45

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

John 8:12

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

#2 I find it interesting that this Feast of Hanukkah (which means Dedication) or Festival of Lights came to pass and was thus celebrated annually about 1.5 centuries before our Messiah was conceived.

#3 As I light the candles each night with the help of the Shamus candle to give thanks for Yeshua and what HE has done and to (re)dedicate myself to HIM.

I Corinthians 3:16-17

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

This evening my son and I will be making this macaroni menorah craft, watching this video, and I will tell my son about the Shamus candle and our being HIS temple as long as HE is our Messiah. Then we will say the 3 blessings for this day as we light the Shamus and first candle.

Tomorrow morning, I will read to my son the first Hanukkah reading found here
