Thanks to a timely post by WatchGirl --- loving that name -- well let me put some of my comment to her here and also some more that I wanted to say, but didn't want to make a post in her comment section
wow thank you
I've got to find this review and as many others as possible
my dh read this book and loved it and is wanting me to read it...i've only read the foward and I just can't get into it -- praise YHVH for keeping from it and your timely post.
dh also told me that his furch is going to 2 services and I asked why they hardly have enough parishioners for one and he said they'll have a contemporary service --- of course that's a all about the music and the spirit and what feels good type of service - sure we should be bringing people to Yeshua but we can't save them ... some one plants the seed and many others may be called to water it but until Yeshua is knocking on their heart, they aren't going to open the door or the harvest will not take place if you like that analogy better. I think people forget this when they think 'oh if we just have this fun thing and that fun thing tons of people will come and get saved '...but where's the truth? the truth is what sets them free - not fun. fun is just an ice breaker.
now I wonder what kind of ideas about YHVH my dh has and I wonder why he didn't pick up on the new agey stuff in that book???? :-(
I didn't read it, don't want to now, but hopefully I would have picked up on it and trashed it right away. I enjoy encounters with G-D as spoken of in the Bible much better. ((think Noah, Abraham, Moshe, Solomon, Eliyahu etc))
again, thanks
Did you catch the stuff about an upcoming service for dh's furch? Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for fellowship but if that's the only thing you offer the lost - what's the point? they can find plenty of "fun" out there in the world...and like I said people step foot in a church or call on Yeshua or crack open a Bible when HE calls them ...so just inviting them for the fun may be the only thing they ever come for .... like many a windy night service, the kids come for the basketball or whatever but don't care about the mini-devotional that's also offered ... the church becomes some social club and not a place to assemble with other Believers.
in other news:
today we had karate class, then went to the park to hang with the homeschool group, then I went to my first Beginners to Jewish Dancing class -- I learned 3 dances .... but I'm not ready to showcase that yet ... need more sessions/practice. A lady from my Intro to Jewish Roots class who also happens to be in the regular/advanced dance class said to me when she got there and heard I already had 3 dances under my belt said to me, "Your face is aglow from this time spent worshipping YHVH!" My dad was mad because I'd do that dancing but not that - in my opinion - raunchy dancing they do at weddings and such ... I'm sorry that's not glorifying HIM in all you do when you are dancing to those horrid songs. The dancing I learned is like the videos at the bottom of the page. YHVH honoring dances.
ok off to record the weather for today.

I just posted an update from Lifeway Books regarding their selling/update of this book. It will basically be sold with a "warning label" of sorts.
