I went ahead and read a book titled The Handmaid's Tale...the part I liked best is below
I don't see this as a "take that you women who think a ladies place is in the home" read.
It is true that even our Creator made us for this purpose. Sure if you're single or not yet had children it is ok to have a career but don't think that's the only thing you were made for. There really is no higher calling for a woman that has become a mom than to be there for her children.
If we hadn't made men to feel like they are worthless with our girl power and women can do it all/who needs a man mentality, then even they would be thrilled to have someone at home for them. It's comforting. And think if only men -and I'm talking straight men here- were in the workforce, then we wouldn't have men cheating on their wives with their co-workers.
I see nothing wrong with traditional roles. No, I don't think women should be treated as doormats, don't misunderstand what I am saying. For the most part I am a home-maker. Sure I have a part-time job currently because my DH who is a product of the superwoman years told me that as a stay at home mom I am of little value to him and because I don't work fulltime is why we don't have a house and he can't go and get a new car, big screen tv, motorcycle, drumset, tattoo etc ...and yes my DH really did say those things to me and since I should try to live at peace with all people, but especially my DH whom I am a helpmeet to, I got a part time job. I don't think this career defines who I am. I am a believer, a wife, a mom, a homeschooling mom, a home-maker, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and oh yeah I work a couple hours a week ...in fact it cost me more in gas money to get out to my job than I actually bring home but what can I do? I'm just trying to make my self of value in my DH's eyes.
I don't feel in any way inferior to my DH. I don't feel in anyway superior either. To have a family there needs to be a man and a woman...not 2 people competing for the same role.
A good free read on how a woman can be more feminine is here
1 Timothy 5:14
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
Titus 2:4-5
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Ephesians 5:28-29
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the L-RD the body of Believers:
Although here's the parts I found best about this book:
this book was published in 1986 the first time and yet she says in chapter 28 something about islamic fanatics being blamed for killing the US gov't and the army declaring a state of emergency or martial law ((which incidentally a president now has the power to do)) .... did we have trouble brewing even then? I don't remember...just a child and probably not allowed to watch the terrorific news. she also talks about going from cash to using a compuform of money and one day they just freeze all bank accounts with an F for female on them and all women are fired from their jobs, only men get jobs and money and eventually only they are allowed to read.
there's an interview with the author in the edition I read and here's a Q&A copied straight from the book, nothing in it is from me...I'll let you know when we get back to me after the Q&A portion...ok....again below here until I say it's me again is NOT ME speaking!
Q. How would the creation of your imagined republic of Gilead be possible?
A: First of all, ask yourself the following question: If you were going to take over the US, how would you do it? Would you say, "I'm a socialist and we're all going to be equal"? No, you would not, because it wouldn't work. Would you say, "I'm a liberal and we are going to have a society of multiple toleration"? You probably wouldn't say that if you wanted mass support. You would be much more likely to say, "I have the word from G-D and this is the way we should run things." That probably would have more of a chance of working, and in fact there are a number of movements in the States saying just that, and getting lots of dollars and influence. The society in The Handmaid's Tale is a throwback to the early Puritans whom I studied extensively at Harvard under Perry Miller, to whom the book is dedicated. The early Puritans came to America not for religious freedom, as we were taught in grade school, but to set up a society that would be a theocracy (like Iran) ruled by religious leaders, and monolithic, that is, a society that would not tolerate dissent within itself. They were being persecuted in England for being Puritans, but then they went to the US and promptly began persecuting anyone who wasn't a Puritan. My book reflects the form and style of the early Puritan society and addresses the dynamics that bring about such a situation.
OK back to me:
this is interesting because we are reading about the "pilgrims" aka puritans in this book and I also read other places about them as well.
I don't know for sure how I feel about all this info just yet the one thing I do know is I'm tapping into the source, the root, Yeshua and HE came to us via the Hebrews...so if you're a believer in Yeshua then you too have become a Hebrew...get to know your family!

I ache for you as I read this post, because we have been down some of that same road. Adam finally woke up and saw that he had bought society's lies and feminism's BS, but up to that point it molded his worldview and he was blind as to why we were on such different pages as far my role. Pray, pray and pray some more. We had to go through hell and back for God to begin to wake him up, but he is waking up, PTL.
