I thought I would share what we have done so far. If home education posts bore you, feel free to stop reading now. Otherwise read on and enjoy.
Bible - We've been following this list here and just finished reading chapter 24 last fry day.
Bible Verses for Memorization -- currently DS is in Awanas so we use that. He just finished the skipper book and I think moves onto hiker
Hebrew -- applied in person at HaDerekh Chaim Torah study and HavDalah they use the siddur put out by TorahResource
Artist/picture study - We are using the term 1 list here
Folksong - Go get the ax ((plan to buy the cd AmbleSide has available but so far we've only heard the sample clip of this song and DS sings it all the time))
Composer/Piece -- following term 1 here
History -- British via Our Island Story Audio chapters 1-12 completed
American via weeks 1-3 read alouds/timeline see note below/mapwork only here
Geography -- places we read about and locate on a map (globe purchase to be made)
also Tree in the Trail chapters 1-9 completed
Natural Hist/Biology -- Burgess Animal Book audio chapters 1-12 completed
CLP's 2nd Nature Reader learning about crabs
copywork -- a sentence from the days Island Story chapter
Grammar -- Climbing to Good English level 1 about 30 pages done so far
Readers -- Finished A Time at Home a CLP K reader and finished Alpha-Phonics
Literature -- Pilgrim's Progress in one syllable because eventually this will be DS's reader
Understood Betsy Audio chapter 1-5 completed
Nesbit's audio ch#19 Shakespeare Stories -- 2 gentlemen of verona -- very cute
Poetry -- Walter De La Mare about 24 of the poems listed here done so far and it took DS a long time to say his name correctly
Free Reading -- We watched Mary Poppins the one with Julie Andrews
St George and the Dragon
currently half way through King of Golden River
Fitness -- DS is always active and usually playing outside or bouncing off the walls inside but as far as "official" "recordable" stuff goes -- half of basketball season 2009 occurred during these past 6 weeks and baseball season starts soon.
timeline -- mom needs to pay to get prints of the images and print out the timeline pages and then we'll work on that project
Math -- we started by using the alpha competency test at MUS website
then we did Math Mammoth's level 1 competency test (pdf document)
Then I purchased Math Mammoth level 2 and we're about 30 pages into that
It's been a fun and learning filled 6 weeks. Looking forward to the next 6 weeks.
